Corbie..thanks for that tip!...i want to try that and save my radio as an amp...that is boss!
This amp hack measures 8x4x2 inches and is powered by a wall cord packed inside or 4 AA batteries. Not as loud as my other amp hacks.
I unsoldered an AM antennae wires to shut it out the AM radio while using it as an amp. I ran a jack from the top left of the radio to a ground and a tap off the volume pot. The radio still works by flicking the AM/FM switch over to FM while the AM side runs the amp.
yeah the smojo tape deck is a 2-fer...you could take that cheap mic it has and cut off the end and put a connector and hook it up to a 4 track and record the tape deck analog with it!...snarly tape tone and a cheap mic...i bet it would sound wonderful : )
Smojo... Sweet! I'm still looking for my tape deck. Must be with my old Radio Shack Computer in a box on a shelf next to that other thing I was looking for.
You might find the speaker you want in a small boom box thats trash bound. Happy hunting.
Papa simone, it might only be one wire at the pot and one somewhere else????
is that a sivlertone 700??
So all fired up to nake something I rummaged my box of electronica and found this old cassette machine that someone gave me. I've snipped the motor wire, unsoldered the leads to the tape head and wired them out to a jack socket. It has a small mic so I rewired the mic input in parallel with the new jack so i can use the mic and or plug a guitar in. The parallel arrangement does drop the levels when using both but it's fun to use. but has wonderful. It distorts really nicely when you crank it although the sound quality is a bit muddy so i might swap out the speaker for something a bit bigger and better. Took me about an hour and a half and cost virtually nothing - great, looking for mny next build now. I have a couple of old battery operated record players from the 60s, might have a crack at one of those next.
So I need help with a different hack. I can't seem to get this one to work from the guitar. Any thoughts on where to attach different leads? I have brushed all around this pot and can't seem to get sound from the guitar. Works fine as a radio. Thanks for any help you can provide!
P.s. I ran the wire of a 9 volt amp kit to the speakers of the Silvertone. It sounded pretty good but kind of quite. Would the pig nose be louder?
