Only in freaking California! Woke up to big gopher mounds in the back yard, so headed up to Lowe's today to get some more gopher poison like I got the last time we had the problem, many years back. Found the product on the shelf and went to the checkout stand to pay for the stuff and the checkout lady scanned the bar code on the package and said "I can't sell this to you". I say "Why not? I bought the stuff here a couple of years ago." and she shows me the message on her computer screen that says,"NOT FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA!" WTF! They have the product on the shelf, but they can't sell it to you. Guess I'll have to use the bloody 12 ga.

I'm with you on those sentiments Uncle John. I only shop when necessary and prefer to enjoy the season as a time to be with true friends and family and we are fortunate to have family that we also consider friends. The best Christmas gift of all is sleeping in and getting up to another day of adventure on this ball of dirt we call home.

Merry Christmas to all of the Curmudgeons and a Happy New Year filled with music and friends.

I love to wrap gifts with extra glitter, bows, ribbon and stickers.  I prefer paper with cardinals, bunnies and doves, but smurfs or Mickey Mouse is always good too.  And I love to shop.  Love it.  Oh the holiday bustle.   Oh, and Christmas music, got to have it from October until GroundHog day in February.   And inlaws.  So good to see the inlaws at Christmas.   And Christmas movies every night.   Mmmm.

That was mostly lies and bull shit.  Truth now.  I like it simple and quiet.  I like the reason for the season and eating oyster stew and pizza on Christmas eve.  I think I am getting one token gift, a shirt, unwrapped- and that is more than enough.

A happy Chrinstmas to the Curmudgeons.  Keep it simple.

I tend to not "Go shopping" as much as I "Go buying".  It saves quite a bit of time in there if I have a plan of action.

Going to the Grocery store make me crazy also. Between the folks who seemingly view grocery shopping as an event that should be savored for several hours and the full aisle blocking  hunched over cart leaners, I'm many times in a pretty surly mood when I get out of there.

Did I happen to mention that I'm not much of a shopper ;)

Thanks for the tips Slowpaw Steve T. Haven't been shopping lately, just out in the world trying to enjoy the day. Don't care to shop for sport, like to get what I want and clear out before the insanity starts to become overpowering. Try to shop for groceries after I've eaten to avoid getting stuff I don't need. Also, being retired try to avoid credit purchases to retain as much of the "fixed income" as possible. Just wish the current crop of folks that call themselves "parents" would do some parenting instead of letting their offspring run wild.

I'll be alright soon, just waiting for my meds to kick in. :)>

Advice for stress-free shopping...

1. Visit the Mall / Supermarket early morning at opening time, less traffic, easy parking, staff are fresh and enthusiastic, lots on the shelves, no crowds queueing nine deep at the checkout.

2. Treat yourself to a coffee in the cafeteria while you watch the crowds piling in and fighting their way through the melee in the knowledge that all your shopping is done!

3. After the bulk groceries, treat yourself to a browse around the compuer store, keep an eye on future developments and have a laugh at some of the new gadgets!

4. Only pay by cash or debit card, takes the guilt and worry out of spending money you won't have to pay back in January.

5. Boast about your stress free shopping experience during the christmas dinner "shopping was terrible this year" discussions (-:

Happy hunting! (-;

"Tis the season and all that, but if I hear one more kid screaming I think I'm going to go "Postal". Do ya thing some duck tape placed over the little buggers pie holes would help? If so, I think I'm gonna carry a roll with me everywhere I go.
