Being cheap is pretty darned expensive.  I suspect some curmudgeons are of the right tool for the right job category.   And some may be cheap ass -make do with what you have folks like me.  I am sure cheapness has cost me more than doing things right.

Today's STUPID story.   I wanted to cut a nice circle for an amp speaker today.  I have cut some sub standard circles with my jig saw.   I have some drill mounted hole saws, but they were too small.  I splurged a bit on a $15 3 inch hole cutter blade.   Just the cup like blade - no arbor with pilot bit.

It did not fit on the drill bit apparatus I had.   Smarter people would have gone and bought the proper apparatus.   Not me.   I spent 20 minutes filing the new cutter to fit on the drill arbor I have.   Did a fair job too.   But then the pilot hole drill -on the arbor was too short.

Not one to give up easily and certainly not one to learn from my mistakes - I clamped wood to the box to keep the circle/hole centered,   Slipped.   Wrecked the box.  Cussed.  Brand new Milwaukee hole cutting blade is trashed,

Did have more boxes.  Got a nice circle cut with my jig saw.

I have learned a lesson here that will  take me several days to forget.

 "DO NOT USE WHILE SLEEPING!"

Another time to wonder what the hell the idiots who write the warning sheets for small appliances have in their heads where the brain should be. Last week the wife's hair drier died, so we went to the local discount box store and got a new one. In the manual, along with the usual warnings of not to use it in the shower and if you drop it in the sink full of water unplug it before trying to remove it from the sink was the all time stupidest thing I have ever seen on a warning sheet. "DO NOT USE WHILE SLEEPING!" People actually get paid to produce these "Operating Manuals" and some government agency approves this kind of crap. Dear God, save us from our protectors!
