This is not so much of a reintroduction as a rebirth so to speak. I joined Cigar Box Nation many, many years ago when I initially developed an interest in more "primitive" instruments, CBGs, mountain…Continue

Well I am still building stick dulcimers and each one gets a bit better as I hopefully improve my finishing technics.  Would like to get some tips on staining.  It seems when I apply stain the whole surface becomes rough even though I am vacuming the instrument and using a dry cloth to remove all dust.  I have better luck just using verathane over the natural wood.

Hello every one. Iam just starting on my first cigar box guiter. A employee at a record store led me to investagate into it. I found myself wanting to make my own and found CBN. I Bought some old cigar box's and even found a 1969 teisco E-110 guiter at a yard sale for cheap to use as a donor. Iam really excited to do this build. and cant wait to share the finish product with every body on CBN.

Hello CBN,  My name is Brian and I've been on the nation for a little over a month and have built 4 guitars and 2 cigar box amps with some advice from several of the members of CBN.  Thanks everyone for you advice and thanks Shane for making this site, this is the most fun I have had in a long time... Brian.

Hello Everyone, My name is John and I go by Ogger here. I live in NC and I am building 3 string CBGs I have some pics up and a few of you guys commented on some of them. I learned all I know about CBGs from this most kickin website. I even tried to build a amp which failed. But I will try to fix it and count it as a learning experience. I play guitar and sing, and now I want to hone my skills on the CBGs. I also built some stomp boxes which are very, very cool and so easy to do at that.

I know I have introduced myself before but I couldn't pass up the chance of winning $100.00 in Chinese plastic. Rock ON!!!!!!!!!!  Ogger

Hi there,

Im Kyle from Victoria Australia and im hooked on these things. 24 yr old concretor and im in the process of my 2nd build.

I've never really been motivated to make anything but i love music, i love the blues and i love the guitar so this culture is perfect to get me motivated.

It was such an amazing feeling when i finished my first CGB and it actually sounded decent! didnt think i had it in me! (alot of studying this site and forums helped though).

Cant wait to test #2.

thanks guys

Greetings from Pittsburgh!  I make smoking pipes, collect pocket knives, and build drums (djembes mostly).  Now I want to try my hand at cbgs.  Just what I need, another addiction!  Anyway, looking forward to getting to know a few folks here.  Wish me luck on my first build.

Hi everyone just wanted to introduce myself and say hello from Colorado. Until 2 days ago I had never heard of a cigar box guitar. I was looking for a project to build with my son and came across a video on YouTube for a cigar box amp built by bemuzic. Then I saw this thing see was playing, and then I heard it and freaked out over the tone and knew I wanted one. I have been playing guitar for about a year and a half. In March I crashed a Mt bike and badly fractured my right index finger. I have been playing slide since my injury and a CBG would be just perfect. I will probably just buy my first one and then maybe build after that. I will definitely be building an amp. So happy I found this forum, lots of good information.
