Hi! I'm Jeff and am new to the forum today. I'm a retired London firefighter who now lives in Huntingdon near Cambridge in England. I've been learning 6 string guitar for a while and came across CBGs online and got interested.

I just signed up for a build and play workshop next month run by Chickenbone John that I'm really looking forward to.

Well L.W. this is the right place. Welcome to the insanity that is the Cigar Box Nation. Lots of good people here and lots of answers. Some might even be helpful. Some true "professionals" here and some who are just in it for the fun. I'm here for the fun and having a ball with it. Once you start building it may become slightly addictive, but the fun multiplies with the builds.

I just put up a post in the introduction section for myself but somehow I lost it in the process and can't get back there. I am going to post this up here and see if it shows up. I am not even sure this is the right section so forgive me if I appear lost.

I am older and retired and play 6 string acoustic and have been interested in cbg's for some time now. There are none to see first hand in my area so I have been snooping on the internet. All that has done for me is raise 10,000 questions that I can't find answers to so.....................here I am.

If I can figure out how to get back to the introduction section I will post a proper one there, hopefully without blowing myself up again.

Hello Everyone.  I have hung around this site for awhile now and finally made my first CBG over Christmas for my brother in law.  Now I have 4 other projects going (2 CB Ukes another CBG and a washboard dulcimer stick that my three year old designed for me to build her).  My father in law and I work on them down in his basement.  He had no faith when we started and now he is a convert.  Full time I am a deskman, but I wish I could go back now and just become a shop guy.  I live in St. Louis with my (very understanding and supportive) wife, 3 year old and two cats…you all totally rock on this site.  Thanks for having me.

Shane Speal Lessons. These should link you to their videos on the tube. There are others here that have more advanced theory techniques etc.
