Hi, I'm HazelFyrebird, and I'm a wannabe luthier (I feel like I'm standing up at a Builder's Anonymous meeting...) in Virginia. I'm a bit of a lurker, as I've been reading and reading for a while,…Continue

This is not so much of a reintroduction as a rebirth so to speak. I joined Cigar Box Nation many, many years ago when I initially developed an interest in more "primitive" instruments, CBGs, mountain…Continue

Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to say "hello" and introduce myself to the forum. My name is JP Baldwin, and I've been a guitarist/singer/songwriter for many years before being introduced to CBGs.
My dad discovered the instruments after taking a break from music for a long time, and I've really become fascinated by them! So much history, and I love that they lend themselves to so many unique builds that are different from the 'typical' guitars and styles we see everywhere else.
I'm looking forward to continue experimenting with the instruments, and checking out all the music on the site. Have a great weekend!
Best,
JP
Welcome Brett and that's a great looking build.
Awesome Brett !!!
Hello All,
i wish i had found this site before making my "mini me"(see pic) there are so many creative, talented and inspiring people here, Im from SoCal, ive made alot of fun projects, but never an instrument, and then i saw a cigar box guitar and thought that would great for practicing, so i started, but then it morphed into what you see below, solid poplar body, maple neck and walnut fret board at 20" scale, and it plays way better than i expected.
Way to go, Perry. Welcome to a fun and creative past time.
Hi John , we have things in common , dumb,British, and play blues! Hey ho. Welcome to the nation. I have a 100 yr Fry’s choc box 3 string , and a simmers biscuit tin 3 string ,drop by and take a look .stay safe .Paul.
Cool, beginning to get it
Well, on this page , you may have a few folks welcome you , , but as for topics , you can search in the top right of any page , or see discussions and posts pop up lower in the right columns where you can join in any time by clicking on them , or scroll to the bottom of each and add your own discussion . and of course , when you post vids and pictures , folks will chime in etc . you may not get a notice when folks comment on pictures , so keep checking back . replies in videos will give notices . The site has a few bugs at the moment , sometimes comments dont appear .. but it seems they are working on it . you will get the hang of it . ;-)
Being dumb and British, how does this work? I was expecting rooms or topics?
