This is not so much of a reintroduction as a rebirth so to speak. I joined Cigar Box Nation many, many years ago when I initially developed an interest in more "primitive" instruments, CBGs, mountain…Continue

Hey, I'm a newbie from the valley of the sun by way of Chicago. I built a guitar from a jewelry box because there's no jewelry box nation and I couldn't find a cigar box for free.

Hi Sander, I'm glad you found this site. You will like it here and learn alot about making CBGS. My wife is also on this site and she is from Holland also. Her home town is Nijmegen. We both recently started building these guitars and I will warn you, it gets addictive real fast. This is better than dope and almost better than whisky or girls. HaHaHa! Marie says Hi and will send you a PM later. Bob H.

Hi everyone, My name is Sander and I'm from Holland. I discovered cbgs couple of months ago and now that I have summer holiday, I'm building my first guitar. It's not made out of a cigar box, but stays true to another cbg rule: cheapness. I think I will build a genuine cbg later on. One problem: I still have to learn how to play the thing, but I'll figure it out, especially with the great help on this website!

Hello everyone, my name is Joe. I have already built a CBG but it wasa shoot from the hip type of build and am ready to start asking the professionals here some dumb questions. After looking at the gallery and seeing some amazing builds and reading some of the forum speak I'm sure I won't get beat up too badly. I do have some background on guitars. I have scratch built several guitars and basses of my ownso I'm not a greenhorn to the concept of building or the tools. But I am green in the building of CBG's and some of the little things that make them great. I look forward to learning about these amazing guitars from you folks.

MZ-HANDYMAN 'Manuel Z' here from San Antonio, Tx. I'm looking for other local people here in San Antonio (and surrounding areas) to get together and share skills in building CBG's My profile pic is my #1 with zero research, i just sketched it up (On the wood) and cut it out. With afterthought I kinda built it like you would an electric but sealed it as an acoustic sound is a bit muted.

Hi all, newbie here!

Building my first three string CBG right now. Most of the construction (or should I say deconstruction?) is done. Right now I'm waiting for a couple coats of lacquer and wood stain to dry. Should be able to put the strings on this monster Thursday.

The body is a shallow Rocky Patel vintage series box, and the neck is a piece of void free apple wood I found lying around the shop at my work. hardware consists of some tuning pegs I pirated from a wall hanger Peavy, and the rest is bits of brass I've found in our shop. Lots of fun, lets hope it sounds good too!
