So, I have a little germ of an idea to throw out and see if there is any interest.

If I could come up with a venue (coffee shop, in particular), would anyone be interested in participating in a home-made music night, open to the public?  Sort of a mini-fest/open-mic night...

Update for all my pals here,

Im now working and living in Colorado Springs. Im planning to make moves to get a wood shop together again so I can build again after being unable to spew sawdust for a few years

I would like to present myself as a fan, a brother, and a resource for anybody in the area.

If there are any mid state pickers here, be sure to shout out!

Hi guys,

Checking in from beautiful Pagosa Springs CO where I've gotten thru my first two 3-stringers, and loving annoying the deer and turkeys that wander through the yard with my terrible slide-style!

I feel like I can move on to more advanced mistakes as I'm pretty sure I've made all the most basic ones!  Meanwhile, I've got more ideas than I have time to build.

And I know for a fact that there are more builders here in the southwest corner...at least ONE that's here on the Nation!

Hey John,

Don't quote me on this, but I believe we go on at 10.  There's a band from Michigan opening things up at 9, then us.

In case anyone is interested, I've got a gig coming up this Sunday (April 3rd) at the Lion's Lair in Denver.  2022 East Colfax Avenue, doors open at 8pm.  Not sure about the cover, but I doubt it'll be over five bucks.  I know, being a Sunday, it's kinda tricky for most people... but at least I though I'd throw it out there!  If ya can make it, be sure to say hi!

Glad ya found us here, Jon!  Not too many Colorado CBGers it would seem... gotta stick together!  I'm living in Denver myself.  Don't have any gigs lined up at the moment (had one last Thursday), but I'll try to remember to post 'em here!

A rant and a rave for you:
I build CB Ukes, I live in Denver and work in Boulder, But when it comes to forking over $130 bucks for the darn uke fest, well, my inner hobo gets cranky.
So folk music is just for the beautiful people who have money?
No, I think Ill just repo my folk tradition and take it back to the street or the coffee house or saloon and let the yuppies be.
Being the rebel's rebel, Ill build by hand and play by hand and I dont make a dime but I keep the music alive.
Every time some young person gets the spark of inspiration...discovering the depth and gritty real-ness of the genuine folk tradition...That is my paycheck....knowing that that song continues to live another generation...
I dont need to pay for that.

And Thanks for the soapbox.
