Good question.

I think you can but I would test the lacquer first on a small part of the box. Maybe the back of the box. Make sure it does not remove the paper or the printed design.

Shellac might remove the ink because shellac uses alcohol as the solvent. Car lacquer might because it contains some solvents that remove ink or paint.
I used Krylon Matte finish (Clear) on mine ... Protects ,but keeps the same appearance... no problerm with the ink ...

What he^ said . I've used Krylon clear acrylic to cover my own printed (inkjet) labels before .
A couple of thin mist coats sets/covers the ink , then regular thin coat(s) .
With a CGB label that's ^ probably not an issue at all .
Here is Bill Jehle´s comment this question ... ( i ask first his permit to public that in here )

===>>> Paper or cardboard boxes work fine for CBGs. You do have to worry about reinforcing and bracing them inside.

Lacquer can dissolve the ink on the box if you spray it on too thick. Lacquer also takes a long time to cure (sometimes weeks!). Some folks have good luck with it, but it just doesn't work for me. You don't have to clear coat the cigar box at all.

If you still want to coat the box with a clear coat, I would try a water based polyurethane, or a clear (or satin finish) enamel. Both work really well and cure fast. <===

... and thanks to all for your comments too ...
I found local hobby shop "Decoupage" lacquer, that product feel usefull. Made in Denmark.

I am not tested yet it but seller say at you can use news paper, serviette, rise paper or other paper type. It gives somekind weather durable coating.
