FYI ... my order of two 32 oz bottles of Tru-Oil (Birchwood-Casey) just arrived FedX from WalMart. 32oz - 18.00$ +/-. I live in Mendocino County on the coast.
Anyone in the Marin County area, there are lots of cigar boxes for sale at Telford's Pipe and cigar store in Strawberry. Every Wednesday they are all half price. The larger ones are hard to come by.
Ellwood,
I stropped by Woodcraft of Sac today and they said they had to send the Tru Oil back, so no deal. Thanks anyway. It is a neat store
Thanks, Ellwood. It just so happens that I will be in Sac tomorrow. I'll try to check it out.
Michael, Good. Let me know if it actually arrives and I will try it. Otherwise I will have to take a trip to Tahoe.
Thanks
Just ordered two 32 oz. bottles of Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil finish from Walmart.com. I live in Mendocino County CA .... the order went through. They have 3 oz 8 oz and 32 oz and a rattle can too! Banzai!!
Alan,
Thanks for that sad news. I did see something like that on BC's site.
Maybe one of the gun stores will have some left in stock, although gun shops are getting rare here.
It is a good place to shop if you are looking for wine or cheese.
If you find Tru Oil you are lucky. I found they on-line statement from Birchwood Casey...
"We are very sorry to inform you, but Birchwood Casey is no longer able to ship any of our oil based products into the state of California. The reason for this decision is due to the CARB regulations and restrictions. ( CARB- California Air Resources Board )
Although our products comply to laws that are in effect, the long arm of the law headed by CARB are more than we care to dance with. There becomes a time when the risks far exceed the rewards, this is one of those cases. BC did fight and lost 500,000 dollars in the suit against us. (public record). "
Gary, I tried a gun store. They told be that it is not legal to sell True oil in California. So, I bought some off Ebay. That worked fine.
