Welcome!

This is a Group for anyone living in the great state of California, who builds, plays, or is just a fan of Cigar Box Guitars, and similar Handmade instruments. If you don't want to say exactly where you live, just say Northern, Southern, etc. I want to be abreast of any major gatherings...this summer is out, for me, but maybe next....

Hi Will,

I plan to be there.  I can bring my fret slot cutting jig for show and tell.  Plus a couple of instruments.  Also I could speak a bit about choosing a box for your build and positioning tuning machines on a 4 string.

Do you happen to have any Undercrown Gran Toro boxes?  They are super good sounding if you flip them over and use the bottom for the sound board.  The lid is massively thick.  Also, I would be interested in purchasing a few of your golf club bags if you have any extra to get rid of.

Hi Rich, I'll put you down to show your tools during the Show & Tell.  I will bring a pickup load of cigar boxes.

I have a couple of old /odd tools that have become indispensable in my building that I will bring for show and tell. I need more boxes.

Hi Guys, We have another meeting setup for Sunday, March 29th, at The Strum Shop. 408 Roseville Square, Roseville, CA 95678, just off I-80 & West Douglas Blvd, from 1 to 4pm.  We will have a Show & Tell, some playing by the members and whatever else you make happen.  I have a lot more big cigar boxes to sell for Ukes for Schools.  Please let me know If you have anything you want to get on the schedule.

Here are a few photos of the Roseville meet on Sunday 1/11/15.

Get well soon, Will.

Nice to see everyone and a bunch of neat instruments.

Will,

If you have 2 or 3 extra of those uke (golf) bags that you would consider selling, bring them along.

Comment by Will King on January 4, 2015 at 12:47pm

That's good, Gary.  You are on the schedule

Comment by gary sheldon on January 4, 2015 at 12:20pm

Will,

I will plan to be there with probably just one uke.  And 2 or 3 gits.  A little show and tell and maybe a short dissertation on choosing a box and one on tuning peg positioning.  OK?

Gary

Our first meeting of 2015 will be on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at The Strum Shop. 408 Roseville Square, Roseville, CA 95678, just off I-80 & West Douglas Blvd, from 1 to 4pm.  We will have a Show & Tell, some playing by the members and a class on making Ukes, Banjos and Gits from CANs.  We line our handmade instruments up along the wall and anyone can pick them up and play.  Some may be for sale.  I will bring my collection of Cigar Boxes and Cans.  I have five heart shaped cookie & candy cans and lots of Christmas cookie tins, all for sale by the Cookie Man.
