Update. After playing for a while, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade the cone for a Beard 9 1/2" biscuit cone. As I had read, the high-end cone did improve the sound noticeably. It is a very clean, metallic sound typical of a biscuit bridge.

I also redesigned the cone cover to something more open

I would swear that this guitar sounds better the more I play it. I think the mahogany top, bottom and sides is settling in.
