Calling all Brits - introduce yourself here.

Hi all. Thought it would be nice to check in here if you're British. I know there's quite afew CBGers in the UK now because I've had quite a few emails from my blog. Time to come out of the woodwork and introduce yourself. How long have you been into CBGs? What got you started? What part of the UK do you live in? Do you know of any UK CBG events?

I'll kick it off. I'm David Ward (aka smojo) and live in West Yorkshire. Got into CBGs when I saw one on Ebay and bought it about 3 years ago. Started building and playing them. I have a blog going at

Don't know of any events here yet but it would be cool if we could get one going sometime.

Hi guys

Tony here from The Polish club in barnsley - I am falling into the cbg scene quickly and waiting for CBJ to do me a guitar - then its the learning curve - cant wait .Shameless plug follows - open mic at the club is thursday night from about 8.30 all you guys are more than welcome.

welcome to the nation. A great night at the Polish club last week that I really enjoyed, I really think that the "drummer" should be available on a regular basis.

Yea, that's the one, The person who assumed/thought (perhaps erroniously) that he was Keith Moon, Ginger Baker and Cozy Powell all rolled into one. It could be worth selling tickets for?

Well the drunkn drummer did not turn up to last nights open mic - but a big thanks to the bikers who turned up along with Mark & Jan and Graham and had a brief visit from Rocker (aka Ken) which we talked about his vision of some home made instruments - Dont forget next thursday we will have another open mic at the polish club.Keep up the good work.

Hi All my name is Ian Dawson and live on the wirral, near Liverpool, just built my 1st CBG and another nearly finished (a few necks built too!) I've attempted other stuff before ( elec fiddles, mandolin and a metal dobro with biscuit tin lid) but this is much more FUN! so much to learn though, what strings to use for a 3 stringer? ( Ive just used bottom E dropped to D 5th A and 4th D but is way too bassy, any tips??? !

Hi all,

I'm 50, currently live in Hull but that's likely to change soon as it looks like I'll be going to South Wales......sadly have to go where I can get work ha ha!! Been playing the guitar badly for 40yrs or so and saw a CGB on ebay four years ago and thought "yeah...why not?". I've found I play my CBGs more than my 'proper' guitars these days.....

Musically, I used to be a rocker and punk but always loved the blues. Now I try to meld the three together........and am trying to get a set list from old classic rock tracks that I've CBG'd up (or down).
