Hey fellow addicts!
I just started making CBGs...in fact the first one was completely finished last night. I have several going at once as I had to pause for things to dry, tools to arrive, parts to arrive, etc etc etc.
Anyway, I am a professional musician/songwriter. I lead up Alex & the Back Roads. I used to be a solo artist, but I've got this band now and the road we're headed down is rustic. That's what got me into making CBGs. We decided we want to be a junkyard band using lots of homemade style instruments. My fiddler has two cigar box guitars that she purchased. I made a washtub bass for us. We use a washboard that I am currently tricking out with add on percussion pieces. And finally, I am making CBGs (and hopefully others like banjos too).
You can see us at www.alexcartwright.com if you are interested. :-)

Welcome to the Nation. Lots of fun building these things and lots of good folks to gain information from.
Thank you! I look forward to getting new inspiration, good tips, and just meeting neat people.
Welcome Alex, it was nice to chat with you yesterday. Cool first CBG, but thought you would play it in the video. That's okay though, cause today, will be checking out your site. Keep going, your already one completed build ahead of me. Guess I need to quit procrastinating, and get on with it.
Hi Alex. just watched your video. NICE Job on your first CBG. Love the handle as a bridge! I just finished my first one a few weeks ago and it is awesomely fun and addictive. my first was a four stringer, but I've already broken a string so I just changed the tuning to GDG and bang away as a three string. I'm a bass player so at first I tuned it like a bass. Then a uke, then some open tunings. that the beauty of these instruments. they're fluid and what ever you want them to be. I'm working on my second, but it's taking a bit longer because I live in New Orleans and it's just too hot in August. lol.
goodluck with the 'junkyard band' configuration. if ya post any videos once you get playing, let me know. I'd love to see them. Donna
