On the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday (August 24th) our local cricket club is holding a mini beer fest, marquee, burgers, beer etc. If anyone fancies playing in the marquee (beer tent!) during the afternoon and moving into the pavilion for an evening session (some other band with 'bought' guits will be 'on' outside) I'd love to hear from you.

Hope there's no other event going on close by, let me know if it will tread on any toes!

Could arrange camping/floor space etc, but if Seasick Steve could make it, he'd get my room!

I'm really not into what PA system would be needed or even how to organise this sort of thing but I'm sure there is some good advice out there. You know who you are!

Cheer folks,

Bri

I'd of thought we'd probably be able to play

Cheers Stu, you're on! I've got a bit of a steep learning curve organising it, but I've got six months. What could go wrong? B-)

yep sounds good, Brian, put me down for the afternoon in the beer tent...after everyone's had a few....he he (-;

i think you've been to enough do's to have a pretty good idea (-;

maybe the CC could hire a PA..?

Hi Steve,

Brickdust & Pyno have kindly offered to loan some kit.

I may have been to a few gigs but I never took any real notice of the dark arts that went on behind the cgbs. B-)

...like the players! :D

Sound like you won't need much of a PA, just a couple of mics for vocals and a couple of hundred watts of power will probably do you, plus a couple of decent guitar amps. Beg, borrow (or steal) one is my recommendation. If you are outdoors try and run a mains power line to it rather than rely on a generator for power. In either case put an earth leakage breaker in the circuit to reduce the risk of electric shocks. If you have to use a genny, use an inverter type to avoid 'spikes' in the power supply, as amps, especially modern digital ones, don't like voltage fluctuations. If there's already a band organised, then there should be a PA there anyway.

Aaaaagh! It's less than four months now! At least the poster is started to give y'all a flavor. If you guys who have already signed up have a time preference, please let me know and I can start working out a running order. Cheers All, B-)

Hey Bri,  John (drums) should be coming down to play with me so can we be billed as 3 Chords & A Lie please?

No probs, Stu, I've changed it on the master, so the next time I put it on the site (probably in a month) it will show your (and any other) changes. Gettin' excited now! B-)

Cheers Bri
