50' Rat Rod!

This one is a pleasure to play. Nice action and it sounds good plugged or acoustic. Surprising acoustic volume. 50' was a very good year.A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most cases, imitates (or exaggerates) the early hot rods of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. It is not to be confused with the somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod, which is an accurate re-creation or period-correct restoration of a hot rod from the same era. Most rat rods appear "unfinished" (whether they actually are or not), with just the bare essentials to be driven. • I love the rat rod. I just finished a license plate guitar myself. definately has a unique sound.

  • Thanks guys.  White Owl, Tea and TC, I like the Brit git idea.  I vote Union Jack head stock, peace sign FERT markers,  Abbey Road things sound good and maybe some Rolling Stone lips.
  • Cool.  Nice fert markers.  Nah, just kidding Whiteowl.   This guitar sounds wonderful in your video.  And I like the idea of a brit plate git, circa 65 and maybe an Abbey Road thing on it.
  • Thanks John and Tea.  I think a UK plate from the 60s would do well.  Lots of great blues and rock there at the time.  Thanks Daddios.
  • that rockin' "Rat Rod" is the cat's pajamas Daddio!! It really sends me!
  • Guys, I may do a video.  Right now, I can't think of a song I do well that I have not done.  Bummer.

License plate guitars are cool and usable.  Having your birth year on the license is a bonus..  :)   Iowa is cool for me, an Iowan.   I think a Mississippi  plate would be close to the ultimate.  Other birth of the blues state would be cool.   Or say, Illinois 62' from the blues migration times.

  • Cool Uncle John! Now I need a 56 Georgia tag. Post a video so we can hear it.

  • That's Cool...Plug it in and play it Uncle J....I wanna hear it!!
  • Thanks guys.  That git on Route 66 in a baby blue and white 54 Chevy.   Mmmm.

    Well done.

looking forward to a vid! Pointy shoes and all!
