Hi folks, my son got me into building CBGs recently.  He wanted one so I helped him out.  Now I'm building one of my own. I'm originally from Powell, OH back when it was still located in the country.  Now I live in Fredericksburg, OH amongst the Amish.  Been playing guitar for almost 38 years, mostly classical stuff.  Looking forward to branching out into a more bluesy slide style.  Great site, lots of info.  There are some really creative people out there.

Yeah, I probably should. Might make an interesting rebuild photo story, complete with as I go pictures.

You should take pics now, so you have a "before" and "after" comparison. Speaking from experience on various repair projects, I always regret if I forget to do "before" pics.

I believe they are, or at least green stripes and shamrocks down the center of the street. I live just outside Dublin between there and Worthington.

The plans I followed were in one of the Mechanic Magazines for a solid body. I used scraps of redwood 2X4 from a redwood outdoor furniture factory glued to rough shape, then cut with a hand coping saw and wood rasps. The neck was built op of 3/4 ply glued together to make the correct width, then shaped with a rasp. The top was covered with squares cut from 3 types of wood edge banding and made sort of 3D boxes on it. Wound my pickups following the directions in the magazine. They are long gone and I need to make some more when I get it back together. Whenever it is finished, I'll do some pictures, including the inside before I put the back on again.

Hi Mickey. I actually lived in Dublin for a short while back in the 80's. Nice place. Are they still painting the street green for St. Patrick's Day?

I'm impressed you built a hollow body electric. CBG's ought to be a snap after that.

Hi All, I am Mickey Sadler in Dublin Ohio. I have built a 6 string hollow body electric from scrounged stuff, only bought the fretboard and tuners. I was 19 at the time and am now 72+. It has been stepped on and repaired, now needs a complete rebuild since granddaughter crunched it somehow. I want to build some cigar box guitars and ukes, and maybe make a penny or two as a supplemental income thing.

Hello, im jason i live in willoughby oh . I love building cbgs i have some picks posted. I try to use all recycled stuff for these, usually scouring tree lawns on garbage day for tables and dressers and hutches and stuff. I think the older wood is stronger and less likely to warp. Love all the pictures ive seen and look forward to seeing more.
