I'm Steve. My first guitar was a brand new candy apple red Fender Mustang back in '73, and when all the tree hugging started and everyone was playing naked maple Strats, I stripped it, took a big old electrician's soldering iron, and burned a mountain lake sunset picture into the upper heal of the body (in playing position), and put chrome Grovers on it I found at a yard sale.
Here's the DISCLAIMER: I've been planning instrument builds for decades upon decades, and collecting tools. I'm always eager to share ideas I've never tried, so look out! LOL, Although I am fairly smart.... always got to sit at the grownups table AND take part in the conversation! HA! How many got to do THAT! I got a degree in Electronics engineering, but not one that got me paid like one (same technical curriculum, no academics...) When I was a kid, I trained myself to jump over the huge open cellar stair pit, and then taught my brothers and all our friends to do it. If I tell you do something, check to see of there's a huge puddle of gasoline and I'm holding a match.... Other than that, I'm pretty quiet and keep to myself.. NOT! I'm 56ish, still just as pissed off at the world as the day I had to start breathing on my damn own, but I learned fast to look cute so people help me or believe my excuses! I pity everyone here. You don't know what you're in for! mUWAHHWAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You know, for a second, I thought the knives were spooning... False alarm.
Is he talking about Luthier Perkins..? LOL, You were lucky to have the Fender. As a kid, I had a Gibson Firebird which I traded for a Gibson Hound dog round neck and later on, I bought a Gibson Hound dog square neck and still have both of them. Yup... your gonna fit right in.
Whoa! Send him to the curmudgeon's group! He will fit right in there.
Too late! I took it over!!
I teach a Codgerdom PHD program
