It all began when....
Hi everyone,
In May I came back from a trip to Cuba with a cigar box. As I smoked my last cigar in my shed on a drizzly Welsh spring afternoon, I noticed some pine timber in the corner and wondered if I could make a guitar out of the box and the wood. A quick search online bought me here. I have no woodworking experience and had no tools. Undeterred I made a very crude cbg, unfretted, ridiculously high action and a bit rough around every edge, but I was hooked. Since then I have made a toothpicked fretted electric, and a cb resonator ukulele. Next on my list is a hubcap banjo.
I have found myself winging every build and it never quite ends up looking how I envisioned it, but that is all part of the charm.
By the way, my wife hates my new hobby.

Your wife needs a little more training. Mine loves anything that will keep me in the basement for days at a time. Mine will even spring for Gitty parts. Trick is to keep them on the razors edge. You don't want to come home one day and all your toys and clothes are thrown out in the front yard and your door key doesn't work the lock. It takes practice,but well worth the time investment.

Welcome to the Nation Dan. The CBGs aren't really addictive, you just don't want to quit when you start building them. I'm heading into my 4th year of building and can quit any time I want to, I just don't want to.
