I'm looking for any builders out there, who build cigar box basses. While I like the guitars out there, I'm a bass player and I've been looking over the web with out much success. I really want a full scale but would be willing to see short scales as well. The neck has to be fretted and traditional CBG headstock. And would like to use this star for the vent hole. Can anyone help me please, thanks Steve 522282792_o.jpg31-021-01_Product_Image_1.jpg

  • I do that . Have pics on here & one on Ebay. Working on one with Schecter (sp?) ACTIVE p.u.'s & electrics, 34" scale. Get in touch, I'm reasonable.

Does the nation think this is a saleable item I have never attempted to sell any of my cbg's but I need some space ,quite a heavy guitar about 8lbs 33.5 solid teak neck( a few hours of patient spoke shaving ) fret less with two 50 mm piezo's under the bridge gave it to a bass player he say's it plays well he would have prefered it fretted or at least marked up but ill just leave it naked for now. Any comment welcome Im thick skinned.

    • That thing is sick, and a beast nice job!

  • Florida huh...
    Go tO ted Crocker..
Or there's a guy on here called Wayne bigler from Florida he makes nice stuff.
Or there's dewy smith he just moved there, his work is outstanding

Yeah dan thanks I don't really do cbgs anyhow and wasnt chasing the gig..I been focused on solid bodies for quite a while now I just think it's best to go local so he can go meet a builder and check out a few in person.
    • Thanks man, I was hoping to possibly getting it built before I deploy in November.

      • Steve,

If you're going to deploy in November (can you say where you're going, or would that compromise security?), then you really need to take your request to the CBGs for Soldiers Group here at CBN. Dan Sleep is from a Marine family, moderates the group, and should be able to hook you up with a builder who can deliver prior to your deployment.

Hey, Dan! Got a customer for ya!

        • Thanks for the heads up, I can't really say were but it's not Iraq, if that helps.

          • Which means it's likely the Other Place. No need to confirm. The CBGs for Service Members Group will get you hooked up with a builder, who will try his or her mightiest to get it ready prior to your deployment ( they have a pretty good success rate). There have been numerous service men and women in country where you're going, who have gotten a custom made CBG from many of the builders here. Dan will make sure you get matched with a builder, when you take your request over to CBGs for Service Members. If you want to know how it works, contact CBN member Matthew Borczon. Thank you, from all of us, for your service to our country. Stay safe!
  • Kid,

    He's in Florida, USA.

    Steve,

There's a CBN Group called Cigar Box Basses:

But if you ask real nice, I betcha the Phrygian Kid might whip you one up. Check out his work on his guitars and other instruments; he does some kewl work. You also won't go wrong with Wichita Sam; I have his number 268 CBG. Nice workmanship.
