First fiddle build... What do I need to know?

I have a few narrower boxes sitting around and I'd like to try my hand at a fiddle. I've built a couple CBG's so I kind of have some of the basics down.

I am a relatively experienced guitar player playing and recording in a gigging band but know nothing about fiddles/violins.

Questions:

What is the proper scale length for a fiddle?

Does the fingerboard need to be radiused? If so how much?

Anything else that I need to know? Anything you wish you knew before you built your first?
