  • that's great to hear the Christmas album is so popular Matthew, when i wrote "For Absent Friends"  i had service personnel in mind too as well as relatives and friends who had divorced, deceased or just working away from home on the big day! (-:

Drinking a toast to absent friends has been a custom in my family for many years.

wow another year. Last year I was alone in a tent in Afghanistan listening to the 2010 download. I was listening to my kids read me frosty the snowman on one of those record able books. Just like that damn tv commercial I can't even watch for the lump it puts in my throat. The cbg album was my only concession to the season last year. The rest of it all was just too painful. So far from home and my wife and kids, mom and dad, brothers and sisters. Instead I was surrounded by wounded marines who were so much worse off and still so much braver than me that I was ashamed to admit I missed home. I have been on 3 cbg Christmas albums but this years is my favorite. I am 46 and this year is my favorite. I allways love the Nation but never more than now. Thanks and blessings to you all
