Are there any CBG comp or tribute albums being compiled? I've been out for awhile and missed the Neil Young one and would like to contribute to something while writing my new album.

Mike,

I've been toying with the idea of a different type of CBG tribute album, because I've already made a song that would work. Mine is a mash-up of Rolling Stones and CCR riffs, called "Stoned On The Bayou."

The album would be called something like "In The Style Of..." Or maybe "Mirror, Mirror..." The idea would be to write an original song, played on CBG, but in the style of one of your favorite bands or performers.

For example, if you're of a certain age, you might remember Peter Frampton's "Doobie Wah," a similar idea in which he used guitar riffs and figures popularized by The Doobie Brothers' "Listen To The Music."

Whaddaya think?

i think my interest in doing tributes of other peoples music is on the wane but if it was original tunes played on homemade stuff, akin to ron's idea, i might be up for it.

Sounds like a fun idea Ron! I love doing mash-ups...been working on a Slayer "Seasons in in the Abyss" mixed with Terry Jacks "Seasons in the Sun" for the uke. Merle...I feel the same, I was really looking for something already under way that I could just contribute to. Although, if I had the time I would compile one myself. I may consider doing one later and making it a free download if there is enough interest. Something along the lines of the old K-Tel comps could be fun...20 Explosive Smash Hits on the CBG...or something like that.

I like the mirror/originals thang. It would open it up for all styles and tastes too.

K-Tel style all the way Mike!  We would need to produce a crappy commercial too with all of the song titles scrolling by.

I"m surprised a BB King tribute album hasn't been suggested yet.

I think that is a really good idea.

Thanks Ben, I may pursue this endeavor soon.

What about one for the 3 Kings. Albert, Freddie and BB. Gives you more songs and you smash all three style together speed it up 40 to 80 bpm you have SRV.

or

Do original songs but only give a few weeks to post it.

Do a 50' 60's or 70's  that open up to a lot more people. Not all builders and  player are blues players.  You might get 80 songs!

We have pushed that you use homemade instrument only, what about a open recording  a play what you bring. some talented folk's lurking.

A dreaded Love Songs and Ballad. haha (I get Wonderful Tonight)

I could go on but I think that 2 months or more is too long. No one works for free so I guess to be a music machine you need to pay someone or have a list of volunteers.

thanks to all who have volunteered.
