Thanks for the nice comment Mom!

......I mean "thanks for the nice comment sAM "!  (darn auto correct)  And cool profile pic!  Is that a 64 Falcon in the background?

So, I've made a 2nd attempt at making this one sing. I originally built her late last year. She's made with a vintage Quintero box & a vintage Buckeye Brand neck. When I finished & strung her up, the wooden nut posed some seriously unplayable issues. The nut grooves were very thin, so thin that they buzzed the hell out of the strings. At that point she became a wall hanger. Fast forward 3 days ago...I'd been watching too many CBU Youtube videos, & got an itching to build something. One video I watched showed a guy & his soprano uke, converting it into a resonator uke. After viewing it I ran to Lowes, purchased a set of needle files, came home, filed the nut, cut a hole into the body, slapped a paint can lid inside & voilà....The Quinter-Reso Uke! I'm happy to say, this time, she sounds sweet!

My friend Shawn was going through a rough time, so I made him a ukulele to take his mind off the heavy stuff.  I did my best to bring our friendship into the build.  The cigar bands on the headstock are from the cigars we smoked together via FaceTime on my birthday.  I got a kick out of using an "It's a Boy!" cigar box because he has 2 daughters and no sons.

Box: Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real It’s a Boy

Neck: Maple

Neck spacer: Yellowheart

Fretboard: Padouk

Nut: Mule deer antler from my Dad’s 1984 hunting trip to Wyoming

Fret Inlay dots on side of neck: brass rod

Fretwire: Jescar Medium/Medium Gold EVO

Tuners: Gold sealed gear

Saddle: Padouk

Bridge: Yellowheart

Travel Uke...I fogot to use the Cigarbox... oops!

I like it.  :)

Uses Bugs easy frets, half split pins and thick super glue! and the horn works as amplification! via the sounds generated inside the brass tube bridge.. a handy travel size uke with a difference !

:-D

My entry my 5th build. Plinky Plonk 4. The Samedi. Has rum hip flask inner. Oak neck, saple and ply trim, and Manuel cigarbox, all laqured to within an inch of its life. Features free hand pyography pictures and logos...enjoy...
