Howdy.  As of late I have been building a lot of ukes.  I have been flipping the box over, using the backside of the box as my soundboard, and attaching the neck, leaving the box empty .  I am curious how much doing a through-neck design will alter (lessen?) the volume.  Does anyone have experience with comparing the sound from two methods?

Thanks,

Mark

I use both methods on Padron  6000 boxes and by relieving the neck under the sound board very slightly with a rasp except one inch at the front & back of the box where the neck is glued and the bridge area gives me just as good a sound.   I just finished a 4 string neck through Mandolin with Aquila Nylgut strings and it sounds impressive.  Maybe one of these days, I'll post a video.

Hi, I just finished my first CB Uke with pleasing results. I bolted and glued the neck to the body but everything bent with the strings on until I glued the lid (at the rear) making it all more stable.

I was thinking of the neck-thru next time for stability. Did you have success with this method?

Good luck!

Gary
