Calling all Brits - introduce yourself here.

Hi all. Thought it would be nice to check in here if you're British. I know there's quite afew CBGers in the UK now because I've had quite a few emails from my blog. Time to come out of the woodwork and introduce yourself. How long have you been into CBGs? What got you started? What part of the UK do you live in? Do you know of any UK CBG events?

I'll kick it off. I'm David Ward (aka smojo) and live in West Yorkshire. Got into CBGs when I saw one on Ebay and bought it about 3 years ago. Started building and playing them. I have a blog going at

Don't know of any events here yet but it would be cool if we could get one going sometime.

hello thought i better introduce myself

im kev aka dogman im 46 and live in wiltshire been playing guitar since i was 7 years old ive played in bands usually heavy meavy grunge type stuff never got anywhere but i did get very very drunk

anyway been out of music for a few years love the simplcity and sound of these little cigar boxes and when i stumbled across them i thought dam thats it thats it so of to ebay ordered some stuff from chickenbonejohn and just waiting for postie at the mo

whilst ive been waiting ive writen a few songs so hopfully get them dowm and uploaded soon

anyhoo enough from me for now

Ah...just had the order in and it should be packed and out Tuesday. Me and my elf are running a guitar making workshop on Monday so the sleigh won't won't be able to get to the post office until then.

Hi everybody, glad to know I'm not the only one making strange instruments out of whatever I can find. I'm from Belfast and have been lurking for a while but have finally decided to post something. I've posted a link to my band, Los Reyez, on YouTube which we recorded using a bass I made from a flight case (I'll post some pics soon) The guitar was played through an amp I made from an Ampmaker kit(great guy Barry) Currently making my first four string guitar from an actual cigar box!

Hi I'm Jeff the newest brit member to the forum. I'm 52 and a retired London firefighter. I moved out of London when I retired and now live in a small village called Earith near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

I've been into music for many years and did the band thing in my youth. I've recently been taking some guitar lessons, which has got me bitten by the music bug again.

I just discovered CBGs online so as a starting point have signed up for Chikenbone Johns next build and play shindig in Tunbridge Wells. I expect after that I'll be well and truly smitten and start building!
