Christmas 2013 will be here before you know it!

Shane Speal and Dan Sleep have organized the Christmas album in previous years, Dan asked me if I would like to help co-ordinate it for this year!

For any of the new folks here on the Nation, we have compiled a yearly album of songs played, composed and sung by our members.

The primary requirement is that the recording be of good quality, for example, If you are singing, we want to be able to hear your voice!

The 2009 Christmas album contained 23 songs, 2010 Christmas contained 40 songs, 2011 contained 18 songs. More songs is not necessarily better, we had

less in 2012 but all the submissions were amazing!,  we really don't have a limit on the number of songs we can include.

There has been a tremendous response to CB Nation collab projects this year, let's top the year off with with a

CRACKER CHRISTMAS ALBUM!

You can submit a cover of a traditional ("non copyrighted") song, or you can do something you wrote/composed yourself.

Please respond in this thread if you would like to participate!

...and include the song that you would like to have included in the album. Once we have the final album compiled, it will be posted as a free download, and anyone will be able to download it. So, you will be able to pass the links along to your friends and family!

Members' names and songs will be published here on this header,  completed MP3 files can be emailed to me at....

steventrowbridge@btinternet.com

Final submission date is

18th December

Submission pledges received will be posted here.....

Does it need to be a 'singing' song, or can it be an instrumental??? (If permissions are sought and received, is it possible to do copyrighted covers?)

I SHOULD have my first proper CBG finished before the deadline... hopefully it'll sound OK.

Sorry no copyrighted covers on this one, it's too public! (-:

If I can get permission, I would like to do a cover of Crosby's White Christmas... instrumental.... unless I think of another song...

why not write your own song..?  (-:

I could try, it's just one of my favourite Christmas songs. I'll take a swing at writing my own though... It would only be an instrumental though.....what happened in the case of the guy who asked about a copyrighted song.. To which you replied that you'd have to check with Dan?....

In the interest of staying "legal" and avoiding an unnecessary cease and desist letter (or worse) we have been trying to avoid any copyrighted songs. If we got caught, and the album was hosted on this site, Gitty could get sued, which I think we would all like to avoid.

i went searching for what x-mass songs and ive learned most of them are owned .  i was wanting to cover ''Santa Clause is coming to town" but it wont be in public domain until 2065 .

An instrumental version of any of the non-copyrighted songs will be fine! (-:

Chrz.W.M.P.

noted! (-:

Can I do a copyrighted cover if I get permission? I'd love to do "all I want for Christmas is a Dukla Prague away kit" by Half Man Half Biscuit, they're signed to a tiny label that is only round the corner from me so I'm fairly sure I can get permission as it's just run by one bloke!
