I don't know if anyone has thought about it, but cheaps guitar straps can be had from ladies old purses or soft sided brief bags. I have a strap from an old soft side brief bag, it even has swivel hooks on it and a wide shoulder pad. Just a thought, old purses can be picked up for 50 cents to a $1.00 at good will stores or maybe wifes old bag she doesn't use anymore.

One of mine is an old cloth belt. I have a couple of leather ones destined for some other boxes... - WY
Purses are a good source for "reliced" leather for other projects too .... Went for a bluejeans/saddle/saddleblanket look on this ........somewhere in New York now . Logo was a pewter keyring ....(headstock ornament anyone?)

A heavy needle, some waxed thread , an old purse and a pair of needlenosed pliers , and among other things , slide pouches come to mind . Or a "patchwork" gigbag if you're ambitious .
Thats a pretty cool idea. iv been stugling with sliding on my neck and keeping the guitar in one place.
A strap would help loads..

Im goin try find a UK supplier for a strap as cheeper than dirt wouldnt shit to UK i bet.
I have been wanting to make slide bags for my cbg's out of hankies. I would really like a seat belt strap for my license plate cbg's/

i did have to modify it a little i had to extend it. but its simple i took a piece o leather and cut it just like the leather ends but longer. it works great i use it on my main strat.
For straps I use Duct tape.I have also made straps out of lawn chair webbing and grommets.
I was looking for strap ideas at a Goodwill store. While sifting thru the belts I found a genuine 3" leather Fender strap ..... 5 bucks. Yee-haa!

I have thought about using small eye-screws and 3/8ths cotton rope for the po' boy look.

Matt
Another good one is old doggie leashes, the woven-nylon kind. I had several "puppy" leashes floating around and they work fine.
it might be over kill but you could try the zakk wylde strap a 3/8th's chain and ibolts.
i use a piece of rope looped at the ends and bound with wire, slip the loops over the pegs i used and tada instant strap that fits the look
