Never wired a volume pot just a Piezo disc and a 1/4 jack. whats a basic volume pot (part number would help) that I could try from radio shack before I go ahead and order more quantity at a later time. Thanks

for a basic vol pot i would suggest a 250 a,others will expand on my thoughts i,m sure

I suggest a much higher resistance for disc buzzers, I'd be looking around 1meg..

To understand guitar circuits try to think of the current like water in some plumbing. A potentiometer is a valve/tap. You can feed current into the centre lug and by turning the knob progressively send more of it to the lug on one side and less of it to the other. Or you can turn that on its head, view it backward, feeding current to the two outer ones and turning the knob to control how much of which input reaches the middle one. Be sure to hook up a multimeter to the lugs and turn the knob, observing how resistance changes and all will become clear. Hope that helps :)

i usually just use a 500K pot. not sure on a part number as im in australia. but they work fine for me!!

hope this helps

The other thing on pots is the way they drop off. Linear or log. For volume use a log, AKA audio taper. That's how your ear works.
