Yes really - the 5th Boxstock! Quite a feat when you consider what we do is very much still a niche hobby, despite Macca and everyone else jumping on the bandwagon!
This year will see Boxstock going back to its roots. A simple one day event aimed at catching up with freinds, enjoying and playing some homegrown music and sharing a few thoughts and ideas - what could be better than that?
The date: Saturday 26th October 2013
The Venue: The Musician, 42 Crafton Street West, Leicester, LE1 2DE.
The daytime sessions will be free to all, with open mic sessions, trade stands, demos etc and workshops.
The evening gig promises to be a real treat and we already have 3 superb artists booked for your pleasure.
Firstly, after a storming debut at last years Boxstock open mic session, the legend that is VINYLHED,
from Hastings Old Town, we have the twangtastic KING SIZE SLIM, and from the USA (where else?) we bring you multi-instrumentalist JUSTIN JOHNSON - what a line up!
More info to follow.
Hope to see YOU there this year

HELL YEAH!
Hi Guys , What about hotels etc , what are people planning , will there be a sort of impromptu open mic for those who decide to stay in leicester on the friday night?
Just a one dayer this time round Tony, so the open mic will take place throughout the day on Saturday. However there may be a local open mic somewhere on the Friday... in which case we'll gatecrash :)
i live in leicester, i might be able to put something on on friday eve, if i can get enough interest =]
Hi DrX, I've booked in Fri/Sat, night's at a hotel, so I'm interested.
'fingers'
Hi Dr x, Friday night is great with me!
Alan.
Great Stuff... Can't wait.
Let the magic continue!. Count me in! A tip for everyone, pay more than £10 a night for your hotel room!! (chillicool kev, I'm talking to you!!!!) LOL
See you there good people....
Alan.
Speaking on a personal level, it's nice to bring it down to a more manageable level in terms of organisation (ie I don't have to go out on the road for a fortnight with 2 overseas touring acts to help make their airfare back home)...and just doing one day means people don't feel they are missing out if they can't make the Friday. I'm sure some people will be around on the Friday...but we'll play it by ear....and it's one less commitment for me and Ben to worry about...sorting a venue, a PA and so on.
I played at The Musician in December, and it's a nice place, not huge, but it's a pukka, well regarded music venue, good sound, great atmosphere and the sound guy was really helpful and pleasant....

Err..and have you mentioned the price yet Ben? Well...let's say the proposed ticket price will, I think it's safe to say, please most people.
looking forward to seeing Vinylhed again, a natural entertainer, the other two look cool too (-:
Proposed ticket price this year is just £10 folks. Thats right, a measly tenner to see 3 great artists. As mentioned, the day sessions will be free unless you want to build a guitar, in which case there will be a small charge to cover materials. The aim of this move is to make the event more accesible to everyone - I hope you will support this move by turning up in droves!
