"Gitty's fret wire is designed for a .023 kerf, and the StewMac fret saw cuts the same size slot, as well, their fret wire has the same tang size too (.023), so all is good."

"Should not be a problem. I've used fret wire from Gitty, Stew Mac, LMI and various others. Just make sure you set the depth correctly. The fret saw and miter box is a huge time saver."

Stew Mac fret saw question

I got a stew Mac fret saw for my birthday :-) what I noticed is the kerf or width of the cut is slightly wider than the pull saw I have been using. Can I use the fret wire from CB Gitty , or do I have to buy their fret wire now ? I have never had a issue with the frets staying in and I don't want to have any issue now .Thanks,Old Man Vinegar :-)See More

"Wow John, those are quite impressive ! He wanted a industrial look. Used the wing nut method described above. However, wish I would have gone with Bluesheart suggestion about brazing a wing nut to a machine head. Tuning the eye bolt/ wing nut deal…"

"Are these primitive  enough? Simply whittled from some oak scraps...and they do actually hold the tuning. "

"I use Crow's eyebolt method on about half my builds.  Works great.   Note that they are sensitive, because of their big diameter.  A small twist causes a big change in pitch."

I built my first CBG three or four weeks ago. I built it as a gift for a fellow firefighter who is retiring. I have played the crap out of it. So as the time neared to give it away, you guessed it , I had to build another one :-)) I have stumbled into a new found passion now ! I am about to start my third one. All my friends and family are amazed that you can make music with such a simple instrument. Anyway I was surfing the net trying to get advice on my second build and chicken bone John sent me here. So let the fun begin :-)
