"Thats a great idea for a resonator!!    I'd been thinking of trying those cake baking tins that have a raised cone in the middle, but couldn't seem to get the right size. I'm off to the farm suppliers in the morning!!"

Blue Haze CBG Resonator Style--"Chicken Feed"

Latest from the Blue Haze Cigar Box Guitar shop. This one is a resonator style. Four strings for ‘slide’ playing only. The resonator is a chicken watering pan that normally screws on a mason jar to supply chicks with water. Two pickups are in this one with a blend pot, one under the wooden (Bubinga) bridge and one under the metal pan. Metal pan and top are free floating, they do not touch the neck (hopefully for better resonance). Nut is white corian. Neck is one solid piece of cherry, no scarf…See More

Beginning Box Building. Nothing too fancy, but functional. For people who don't have easy access to cigar boxes. Other home made non-rectangular box resonator discussions are also welcome.See More

"You boxes set on the diagonal look really great. I'd give anything to play that good, I 'make' better than I play!"

Fret Scale Template-Accurate! Cheap!--How To Make

Posted on March 18, 2011 at 11:43am 20 Comments

Here's my first CB building blog. It's just a short one to get the hang of it. It's about making an accurate fret scale template for about 3$US as opposed to buying one for 40+$US. It has sub-millimeter accuracy with just a little care taken in its making. First, you need a 3$ 'Swanson' yardstick from Lowes i.e. (http://ity.im/07nkn). Of course it can be another quality brand from somewhere else as long as it has mm marked its full length. After completion…

Welcome aboard, DrByte! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBU, CBB, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).

Up in the Free Resources menu at the top, you will see a number of plans for building and playing cigar box guitars/ukuleles/banjos/dulcimers/violins. I encourage you to download any of the plans, take a look at them, and ask questions from there. Also our site is VERY searchable. I bet you your questions have already been asked, so take a few moments and look around.

Join our Chat sometime (see the bar at the bottom of your browser page). Keep in mind that tho the chat window says there are X number of people online, not all may have the chat window up.

Most of all, have fun!

-Wes
