"Yes thats a good method..thats the method i use on my CBU's It works well along with the scarf joint, plus if you add the fretboard ontop you can hide the joint as well. Loco"

"I did  a scarf joint to angle the headstock. Next time I think I'll add a fretboard on top of the neck to get some more height above the surface of the box & a more extreme string angle at the bridge."

How did you learn about Cigar Box Nation?
CB GITTY
I saw my first CBG while on vacation in Tennessee & was blown away by the idea! I've been into woodworking since I was a kid & have owned (but not played very well) guitars for over 20 years. Now I can combine my interests & throw in some of my warped creativity for a truly unique instrument. Every project teaches me more & more about what works & what doesn't. I love the "anything goes!" metality of CBG's. Flea markets, scrap yards, & my junk drawers all add differents pieces to my CBG puzzles!
I've lately been working much more on my guitar playing, to make playing these instruments more pleasing to my wife's ears!
Thanks to all for the great ideas & inspiration.

Deke, thanks for the friend request. Yeah, it hurts more to fall, that's why I avoid it at all costs. The knee pads and wrist guards sure help there if you do though. Just finished my 5th cbg this morning, gave it to my son for Christmas. He helped in the build (and learned a lot of woodcraft/shop skill) so it was a good week for both of us. Did my first french polish on the fretboard. It came out way better than expected. I'll try to get some pics posted up of it. Got another 4 or five being built now also. Again, thanks for the request, and if you're down here, come see, we'll pass a good time!

DUDE it was a blast! I'm gonna be telling this story all year. Plus I'll have to learn some Irish songs. Any good resources for that?!?!?

Anyway. 363 more days until we all get together again. AND, if'ns you're ever in the area anywhere nearby (NC is big. SC is much smaller) let me know.

Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee
