Cowboy, make your first one a 3-string. Believe me, you'll make a few more. I don't know of anyone on here who only made one --- maybe one SO FAR.

In the dulcimer group, there are descriptions of how to do dulcimer frets. It is the same as regular, just leave some out. But from your photo is looks like you play already, so a chromatic fret instrument might be better for you.

But like I say, you're going to build more than one. Read up, then stop reading and just go for it.
