Tele pickup configuration plus a piezo under the bridge plate.Part of the plan with this guitar was to see how much of a tele sound you can get by placing cheap pickups in the appropriate positions (I also used maple for the neck and made a tele-style bridge). I scaled the pickup positions from photos of genuine telecasters. Pickups themselves are bargain basement strat types with the covers omitted and the pole pieces filed flat.The answer seems to be that you can definitely get tele-like tones. I'm not claiming it's a perfect imitation and it was never intended to be such - but it makes some nice sounds.
