That looks great! I'll have to try some brass for my tail pieces, etc. Maybe will have to buy a vice to bend the metal, but your advice on filing a groove in it before bending should help.

Made of brass bar, brass rod, screws & springs, all available at Ace Hardware. Brass can be cut, drilled, filed, sanded, etc. just like wood. Bending the brass bar was a hurdle, till I figured out that I could file a groove in it till it could be bent in a vise. Since the strings attach in the holes in the base, there's no pressure on the rear of the bridge plate which merely holds the adjustment screws.

I've been thinking about making something like that myself. What did you coat the with? Or is it brass?
