I only found the Steampunk Collective here on CBN recently, but, as you can tell from my profile photo, I have been into Steampunk for a while.

In my view, CBG culture is a natural fit with SP.  Both have roots in the 19th Century, both have heavy DIY ethics, and both eschew hard rules about what is in or out of the category.

For instance, many of the photos posted in this discussion fit more into a Dieselpunk esthetic than strict Steampunk.  But, I don't know any Steampunks who don't like Dieselpunk.  One big tent.

Same with Cigar Box Nation.  It's not all guitars.  Dulcimers, diddly bows, fiddles, cajons, rub boards, whatever.  One big tent.

i like the visuals, the imagination of SP. may not go there, but i do admire these.

Figured that I should add my build here. "VUDU Steam". Just what happens when you collect strange bits and they come together and talk to you.

Burnt bits were done with an oxy tourch, then all the loose bits were rubbed off before coating with a clear lacquer.

I really like the burnt out thing. Have you sealed the charcoal to prevent getting coated? Awesome!
