neck wood, find the hardest you can find, recycled natives look nice, avoid pine if you can , if you can't make sure the grain is going the right way i.e. |||||||||||| instead of: _or \
what are you planning on making?
cigar boxes:
A) try trade me, beware though its expensive.
B) Havana house : on customs st west off queen st. expensive too, but at least you can see what they have.
C) CB gitty will send them from the states, nice boxes, bigger sized and no annoying do not smoke adds to peel off. you can order other parts while you are at it (fret wire tuners etc)
Comment by jeff burgoyne on May 26, 2013 at 5:05pm another question is there anyone in this group that makes and sells cigar box guitars
Comment by jeff burgoyne on May 26, 2013 at 4:48pm where do i get a cigar box from as i aint seen those for years and what sort of wood to use for neck? and what size fret wire and where to get it or can you use jumbo paper clips
what exactly would you like to know? best idea is to start finding parts.
Comment by jeff burgoyne on May 26, 2013 at 4:19pm hi all new here any help on how to make one of these awesome guitars would be great. i live in auckland
sweet as
last time i used a drill press to sandwich them in which gave a much better result, if she can scam one of those (especially for the tuning machines too) from someone, it makes the job a lot quicker.
Comment by King Uke on December 9, 2012 at 3:20pm Thanks for this Kalmario. I don't think she's fitted frets before. This info will really help.
