Comment by Karl G. Siewert on March 17, 2012 at 10:09pm The one I just finished (see http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/photo/listForContributor?screen...) has a bright, clear sound with no amplification. The body is made from a tin candy box. No soundholes at all.
Comment by RUM SICK DAVE on March 17, 2012 at 10:01pm gday everyone, has anyone built a cgb ukulele without any electronics or pickups that has that high acustic sound to it. i have some light weight cgb's, i think would be better than heavy timber boxes, but looking for ideas for sound, [bigger sound holes maybe??.
Comment by Karl G. Siewert on March 14, 2012 at 11:10am My first build is a banjolele (tin body), concert-sized. I've almost got it finished. Need to adjust the nut, build a bridge, and string it up!
Comment by Corbie on March 2, 2012 at 9:18pm oh so sorry about those metric people.............really I am............ just google decimal to metric conversion charts and look for the images.
Comment by Corbie on March 2, 2012 at 9:05pm I wouldn't fight with anything over 1/32nd. Find the closest fraction to your decimal. If you really have to just cut a little of the pencil line or leave a little more of it showing. Doesn't matter too much if you don't have a way to adjust the bridge for every string. I find it hard to just see the pencil lines.
The Stew Mac has a nice fret calculator.... read the instructions that will help make it acurate. It's easy.....hope this helps.
Comment by Corbie on March 2, 2012 at 8:12pm If you have a IPod Touch or IPhone you can get an app called Chords4Ukes. Pretty clever how they layed it out and it was free. If you have a Droid type phone they may have the same app.....if not you might find one nearly as good.
I also have a tuner that I like called Tune Master that was also free. It covers Uke tunings plus much more.
I tried all sorts of tuner and chord app's that were free and I think these two are among the best.
