It's a MA plate early 80's. I like your opinion on aluminum over steel ...... I just passed on some great plates at Hemmings Motor News store in Bennington VT last weekend. I chose a steel plate from Texas because it rang sweeter when you hit it with another plate. There was another steel plate from Texas with a great number but it rang with a thud.... passed on it. Also found a steel California plate that rang the best of all. Maybe I'm overthinking the ringing when striking the plates together but it sure is fun doing it in the stores.

Be sure your plate is made of aluminum. It makes a huge difference.
