I just thought that I would mention that I now play cigar box bass instruments in the orchestra that I play in. I am using my stand up bass on one number and my ukulele baritone bass on another. Both these instruments have matuted wonderfully over the short time that they have been constructed and played. The strimmer lines that have been used as strings have settled down well and remain in tune from one week to the next.

I know this is also technically, not a CBG bass, but the idea came from these pages. I needed a bass, and there was an antique axe handle laying around....

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know its not technically a cigar box bass, but I use all the same unconventional building techniques the nation is known and loved for! Classic unique instruments you can't get in a store anywhere. I've been practicing on it at home, but it will get its first test with the worship band tomorrow night. Should be fun! Doug

Doug,
I saw yer bass on the guitarz blog. I love that place! I've had to stop myself from going to eBay for some of Bertram's finds!

One last try with the link in the text since the add hyperlink function doesn't seem to work well: http://guitarz.blogspot.com/2010/04/vikster-homemade-shortscale-bass.html
