  • Are you using a piezo in your bass?

    • Yes 2 under under the lid under the bridge. They are so hot. I first strung it with roundwound strings had way too much string noise so I went to a nylon which muted all the noise. I had no volume when I first did it and added a volume pot and about 12 oz of lead weight to balance the nose dive neck which helped alot.
      • What value pot did you use?

I've been putting my piezo on top a piece of double sided tape to mute some of the noise, works well. Sometimes requires 2 pieces of tape. I always put a piece over the top to stop feedback too.

        • 500k. And I used painters tape
          • Thanks for that. That tape will work too.

  • Yeah Buddy. I just looked again and saw your awesome cigar box bass. I got tunnel vision checkin' out yer amp! Some of us old guys get locked in on the tree and miss the forest.

  • Nice build, Big Guy. I made a couple of suitcase amps, and a pair of amps from an old Columbia p.a. system clamshell cabinet pair. Always a crowd pleaser!  "Is that an old suitcase?". When they have that old, vintage, used patina they are a great compliment to the cbg's. Love old stuff.

    • Yes it is. This is my bass one.
  • Nice looking amp.

    • Thanks
