Brand new to this and in the build of a guitar but bought a Blues box guitar in the meantime to start to learn on. Here is my main issue, I strum an open note then when I put the slide on to play another note the strings vibrate against the slide. I know it must be a technique but how do you pick it up?

  • Another technique is "Palm Muting" using the heel of the pick-hand to damper the strings (right next to the bridge) or mute them (farther from the bridge).

  • One technique to reduce the rattle is accomplished by damping the strings with the finger that follows behind the slide (behind, meaning the finger that is above the slide-wearing finger). It takes a bit of practice and timing.
