  • Hey, Sam. Glad to help. Also, cheap wood from lowes does not mean cheap neck. I've done some really nice necks using red oak or poplar that had the works (truss rod, etc) that played like a dream. Better woods obviously get you better stability over time but in climates like mine where the weather is very stable as far as moisture and temperature (CA), such necks will last for years and years with little to no warping.
  • Sam, see I thought that work looked good! I'm 65 years young and just got my 2nd 'too on my right calf. I'm a retired firefighter and wanted to have my career there. Great work keep the pics coming.

  • Sam, you are right, it is going to be worth it.
  • Sam, I am still working on my first one, but I am getting closer to finishing it. It is work when you don't have the right tools and the fret wire on hand. I had to carve out my neck with a wood rasp which gave me a work out. It just takes longer to build it without the right tools. I am using a close hanger cut up for my fret wire. There is alot of work just getting the wire ready to install on the neck. Even though it is alot of work, I already feel pride in my work.
  • Very nice CBG; great job on your first one.
  • Welcome aboard, Sam! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBU, CBB, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).

    Most of all, have fun!

    Tres.
  • Howdy Sam welcome to the Texas group!
