  Hey Roland. I built a fretboard out of wood that, here in Canada, is known as Mexican ebony. Don't know if it's the same as ironwood but it's deep black and hard as hell. Very difficult to work with. I have an off cut left that I'm using for saddles and nuts and, lemme tell you, it's bloody difficult to shape with hand tools or even string groove files.
