What if we have a mechanical license for a copyrighted song?

hi - i doubt it,,what is a mechanical licence?    the matter of copyrighted songs is a serious issue and could have bad consequences if the 'Nation run into expensive legal disputes with music companies, just best to contribute your own written song, cheers Steve

A mechanical license is the permission of the copyright holder granted to someone that records and distributes their song. Under current U.S. copyright law, the mechanical royalty rate is 9.1 cents/digital download and 0.0006 cents per stream.

Licenses can be obtained directly from the copyright holder, though rarely. Usually they are obtained through a third party agent that represents the copyright holder. The third party agents charge a fee for their service. The best deal I've found is $12/song+royalties.

I'd be willing to pay $21.10 for the license for 100 digital downloads. If you think it will get downloaded more than that, give me an estimate.

I would say it would be best to write and perform your own song, most here find doing that a lot more fun !  :-)

I'm not a song writer unless you count raunchy parodies. lol

I'll just upload my video and let YouTube handle the royalties.
