The spring is a tip from Del Puckett. It adds reverb to the guitar. Cool!

It's a fun thing to do. I suspect someone/s here can tell us if somehow connecting a spring to the pickup in a more direct way would give (via an amp) more reverb? I've done several and acoustically it took 4-5 of 'em to give a louder reverb effect. -Glenn

Seems like a neat and cool thing to do. I did it once. I am a hard of hearing old fart and did not hear any difference for sure.
