I finally found a nice box on ebay but with shipping, it cost me $21.  Where is a good place to find them?  Do the smoke stores have empty boxes.  I am just starting my first build.  I think it's going to be fun but as I posted earlier, my first neck is now in the kindling bin.  The dremel tool slipped when I was cutting out for the box, and as I would have it, the darn thing found the bottom of the neck and put a giant groove right across the bottom.  I wasn't the smartest kid in school, but I thought I knew every curse word until yesterday.  I made up some good ones!  It's great to have this website to study.  Lot of help can be found on every topic.

I did find something great today though.  I was getting ready for public sale at my Father's house and found about ten pounds of heavy sheet copper.  It will be great for molding into a nice tail piece or I'm even thinking about making a resonator with copper for my 2nd build if I get past building the first neck.  If someone could help me with where to find boxes, that would be great.

Most cigar stores have empty boxes around. The ones I visit usually charge 1-2 bucks for the paper covered ones and 5-7 for the all wood ones. If you are looking for a specific box, Cigar Box Central (ad on this site) sells them for what I consider a reasonable price.
I'm getting the box for my first build on ebay, loads of good deals there as usual.
Be careful of what u buy off e-bay for boxes ,,, b sure n check the size of the box .. then pictures make em look bigger than what they are !!   I got burnt on some litle boxes,, basically to small
And 21 seems like a lot! I'm paying maybe four or so for mine.
What I did was donate a CBG to the Tobacco  store to hang on their wall and now I get all my boxes for free..
Yep, you have to watch what you buy. The Cigar Box Central site has the dimensions listed so you can make sure you are getting a box that is big enough to use for a guitar. I have purchased quite a few from them.

Shipping charges kill you on individual box sales, unless you can buy in bulk you have to find local sources. Dont use my sources however, someone is already beating me to some of my cheap and free sources around here. (Locations secret!)

But I bought 15 for $15 a few weeks ago, and got a mixed box of 7 for free last weekend.
