I was just wondering. 1/4 jacks are kinda pricey? And would it be cool to make your own pick up and wire it to a outlet plug in the box, and then have a 2 prong plug go to your cbg to your amp. This would be kinda cool for a diddley bow or something like that. Outlets are way cheap, and you could always swipe the 2 prong plug from junk electronics. I don't know, just thinking out loud.

I started one like that one time, but never finished. I wondered though if you'd get too much movement on a 2 prong outlet, which would send noise through the amp. I'm interested to find out too.
I am thinking of a "junktion" box between your cbg and amp. The box has a 2 prong outlet in it, one set of wires lead to a 1/4 jack and the other to the plug. Then, you can plug in your amp to the box, or pedal and then just use a 2 prong cord between cbg and amp. You would have to make your own custom 2 prong plug cords at both ends. But you can swipe them off of anything and the outlets would be cheap too. I just bought one at a local second hand store for 25 cents.

without a "coaxial" plug and cord you will get radio interference. this was a problem with my Grandfathers rig from the '30's he made his own jacks since it was in the Depression.

AGREED on the wire.

i recently found an old projector with box speaker and cable. the cable was 1/4" mono ends and made from basic two-conductor brown extension cord type wire.
i tried to use it for my guitar and there is a TON of INTERFERANCE! i never could figure it out, but i guess now it comes back to me, the reasons why audio cable is coaxial, one conductor inside another.

TWO PRONG JACK?

i like the idea, from a scrapper point of view, certainly! plenty of times, i could have salvaged the electric cord from an old lamp/toaster/coffee machine/etc, and could have used them for music cable male ends!! great idea! the problem is the cost of the electrical jacks themselves. they can cost a few bux a piece at the home supply store. find a cheap source of outlets, and a cheap source of coaxial cable, and you're in.

seriously, i'm inspired. now i want to build my next -cardboard- slide guitar with an electrical outlet in it. how much more homebrew could it POSSIBLY get!!???

LOL

watch out for my next build, i may steal your idea, but i'll give you credit, and i'll make a video with the results!!!!!!

YAHOOOO i got a new crazy idea to try!!!!
Risk of someone accidentally plugging your guitar into the wall?
