neck shaping

Shaped 6 necks today. I shape them using a spoke shave followed by sandpaper. On the rare occasion I use hand tools, it makes me realize how quiet and dustless woodshops were before electricity. I assume they were pretty quiet and relaxing, instead of piles of dust on the floor and dust in the air, it was a floor covered in wood shavings and the only sounds were mallets tapping on chisels and the scraping sound of hand planes.

Comment by RON NORTHCUTT on February 3, 2023 at 12:57pm: The spoke shave seems to work fast for me, I seem to have better control with it and it cuts so cleans and smooth. I go directly from the spoke shave to 100 or 120 grit on a disc sander. The hand sand starting with 150 thru 220. The hand sanding is very minimal and fast. I did those six necks and about 2.5 hours.
